The climate crisis is affecting weather patterns across the world, wreaking destruction and destroying the livelihoods of hundreds of millions of people. In the face of this threat, writes <theconversationafrica.cmail19.com/t/r-l-tyjtutdd-utkrtichu-i/> Richard Calland, companies need to wake up to the fact that the rules of the game are changing. They can no longer ignore the reality that the state of society and the state of the planet are inextricably linked to their ability to do business. To stay in the game, they have to fundamentally rethink the role of business in society and the economy.
The South African city of Durban faced heavy flooding over the last week. Researchers around the world have long been working on predicting events like this, using historical rainfall data, flood records and modelling. Justin Pringle argues <theconversationafrica.cmail19.com/t/r-l-tyjtutdd-utkrtichu-d/> that for these methods to create more reliable predictions in South Africa, government, universities and communities need to work together better.
