Efficient machine tools increase productivity



Machine tools are used mainly in the automotive industry, mechanical engineering and in drive technology. In practice, the machine tool sector is divided into two main areas: metal forming and metalworking. Photonic Mixer Device (PMD) sensors with time-of-flight technology are used for detecting the loading condition. The O5D100 photoelectric sensor detects whether the conveyor belt is clear to prevent possible collision with other parts such as bales of scrap or vehicle parts. The O5D with time-of-flight technology combines the following advantages: long range, reliable background suppression, visible laser light and high excess gain. The unit allows any angle of incidence and flexibility of mounting, which simplifies installation. Its setting parameters can be copied to a new sensor via IO-Link, saving time and preventing possible setting faults.
