The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has strengthened its coverage in Africa with the appointment of Barry MacColl as EPRI International’s a senior regional manager facilitating technology transfer. MacColl will be based in Johannesburg. MacColl joined EPRI International from Eskom, where he was general manager of the Research, Testing and Development Business Unit. He had worked at Eskom for 26 years. An independent, nonprofit organization for public interest energy and environmental research, EPRI focuses on electricity generation, delivery, and use in collaboration with the electricity sector, stakeholders and others to make electric power safe, reliable, affordable, and environmentally responsible. EPRI has collaborated with the electricity sector and its stakeholders since 1972. Its membership represents approximately 90 percent of the electric generation in the United States, and participation in its programs extends to more than 35 countries. EPRI provides thought leadership, industry expertise, and collaboration to help the electricity sector identify issues and technology gaps through its research and development programmes.
