INVITATION FOR STAKEHOLDERS TO SUBMIT WRITTEN COMMENTS ON THE REVIEWOF THE NATIONAL FREE BASIC ELECTRICITY (NFBE) RATE METHODOLOGY FORTHE DETERMINATION OF THE RATE FOR THE COMPENSATION OF ESKOM BY LOCALAUTHORITIES
The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No. 40 of 2004). NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipeline industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No. 4 of 2006), the Gas Act, 2001 (Act No. 48 of 2001) and the Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No. 60 of 2003).
NERSA hereby invites stakeholders and members of the public to submit comments on:
– The review of the Methodology for the National Free Basic Electricity (NFBE) Rate that Eskom charges the municipalities to supply Free Basic Electricity (FBE) to households in the Eskom supply areas within the municipal boundaries.
The above document is available on NERSA’s website at www.nersa.org.za or on request.
NERSA would like to encourage all stakeholders and the public to actively participate in this process by submitting written comments on the consultation paper on the Methodology.
NERSA will collate all comments received, which will be taken into consideration when the decision is made. The process for the consultation and decision-making is outlined in the consultation papers.
