Second gas-fired power plant completed

A consortium comprising GE Power, National Power Parks and Harbin Electric International, recently announced the completion of the Baloki regasified liquefied natural gas power plant, following the successful conclusion of all commissioning works and performance-related tests. The plant, which is based in Pakistan, has a nameplate generating capacity of 1223 MW and is the second regasified liquefied natural gas power plant to be built in the country.

The first, the Haveli Bahadur Shah (HBS) power plant entered full-fledged combined cycle commercial operations in May 2018. HBS and Baloki have already added over 5,5-billion kWh of power to the national grid while in the commissioning phase and they will continue to deliver efficient, low cost power for up to 30 years, making a meaningful difference in the lives of the people of Pakistan.
