A South African energy sector trade and business delegation, led by Trade Invest Africa and the South African Electrotechnical Export Council (SAEEC), completed a successful trip to Zambia recently. A representative from the Zambia Development Agency said he was impressed by the companies from the South African energy sector.
Representatives from South African energy companies met with various public and private organisations in the Zambian energy sector. The aim of the mission was to facilitate market access and unlock investment opportunities in the Zambian energy sector in generation capacity, transmission line roll-out and universal access to electricity.
A key component to this trade mission was the inclusion of the South African Export Credit Insurance Corporation (ECIC) and the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).
Trade Invest Africa, a division of South Africa’s Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), co-ordinates and drives implementation of South Africa’s economic strategy for the entire continent through close collaboration with the private sector. African financial institutions with their developmental approach to investment are pivotal to intra-Africa trade and investment.
