Our Audit Process

All Credible Carbon projects are required to demonstrate additionality, measurability, and permanence. Where projects rely on assumptions, parameters, or default factors, these must be grounded in internationally recognised methodologies and guidance, including those applied under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and other established carbon standards.

In addition to quantifying greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions or removals, each project is assessed for its poverty impact as part of the Credible Carbon audit scope. Our audit approach is designed for the voluntary carbon market and applies streamlined procedures that preserve transparency and technical rigour while avoiding unnecessary administrative burden.

Audits are conducted by independent, accredited auditors. A typical audit:

  • spans four days,

  • includes a site visit and structured beneficiary interviews, and

  • is priced 10–100× lower than comparable formal certification audits, while maintaining robust assurance over key claims.
