How a project gets here

Project lifecycle

Every Credible Carbon project follows the same five stages, from early concept through to verified emission reductions. Select a stage to see where it sits in the process.

Project Idea Note: the project is assessed against one of Credible Carbon's three core methodologies, using project data and the best available scientific evidence to define the activity, baseline, and expected climate and social benefits.

The project is formally registered against a recognised methodology, establishing its baseline and monitoring plan.

An independent auditor verifies that the project's reported emission reductions are real, measurable, and additional.

Verified emission reductions are converted into carbon credits and issued onto the registry, ready to be sold.

A buyer retires the credit permanently against their footprint, so it can never be sold or claimed again.
